Fuck this guy. When Kovalchuk left in 2012, I wanted to punch him in his stupid Russian face. It's now 2016, and I still want to punch him in his stupid Russian face. Yes, I am still salty.
I just read this. Apparently Kovalchuk is threatening his KHL team with a return to the NHL.
Kovalchuk has told SKA that if he's not on roster in two days time he's terminating his contract and heading to North America— Aivis Kalniņš (@A_Kalnins) February 25, 2016
He's had a down year for his team, Lokomotiv. As of this week, he was stripped of his captaincy and benched for game 2 of his team's playoff series, then scratched for games 3 and 4. Now he is threatening to leave if he isn't put back on the roster. Hmm, an abrupt departure from a team? Terminating his contract? We've heard this one before! Once an asshole, always an asshole.
All 30 NHL teams would have to approve him returning to the league if he tried to come back. So, I don't see it happening. You think the Devils and Lou up in Toronto would approve that? Hell no. He screwed both of them. The only loophole to get around that would be to sign with the Devils. Good luck with that one.
Here's an article that goes into detail about how Kovalchuk could return to the NHL: https://t.co/bvBarv7ybv pic.twitter.com/IC7xgZ9v9g— NHLnumbers (@NHLnumbers) February 25, 2016
In the crazy event that somehow he does weasel his way back in the league, I say the Devils bring Daneyko out of retirement for a game just to murder him on the ice.
